Drilling Interface

The need for client's to reduce their operational cost but still retain and improve the safety and integrity issues are a high priority for business performance.

Mobile installation Interfaces with fixed installations, manned and normally unmanned are increasing for a variety of purposes i.e. for well-related activities from drilling to work-over or accommodation activities for shutdown and maintenance etc.

This type of programme has come about due to new technology and minimum facility installations - i.e. Skiff, Brigantine etc.

The key is accurate integrated planning of the discipline Interfaces from design to implementation this will ensure the mobile installation and the fixed installation minimise the risk factor to acceptable levels. Task risk assessments of the Interface will be provided to enable the active parties to undertake their appropriate tasks within set down parameters and time constraints.

Environmental issues will be addressed during design development before implementation of the Interface to enable all necessary actions to be in place.

The upside to a safe, integrated Interface system is a lower cost burden on company budgets through reliability and planning. A safer working environment with the hazards identified allows for a quicker more progressive Interface keeping within the safety standards set down by the company in accordance with approved procedures and current safe working practices as well as statutory requirements.

UK Legislation requires a Combined Operations Safety Case detailing the Interface requirements for the works carried out on the mobile installation and the offshore fixed installation this will also include the Geophysical plans showing vessel positioning. This information will come from the client's own files as well as surveys and data that can be gathered from these installations.

From a client's statement of requirements we will carry out the necessary studies and offshore visits to develop from the Combined Safety Case and Interface recommendations a detailed package, which will include cost estimates for budget purposes.
